Smoke Blessing

The Sacred Smoke Bowl Blessing, which is commonly refered to as "smudging" is a Native American practice. "Smudging" and "incense" are common terms for the enhancement of one's physical envrionment through the use of sacred herbs and oils.

The herbs most often used are cedar and sage, and sweet grass. Smudging is not the process of eliminating or killing anything, but is simply the shifting of energies so that there is a balance of positive and negative. It is moving that which is in excess of balance to a place of need, bringing a chain reaction of balance, not only in the place we stand but through all.
