Many Sacred Altars
By Risha Gotlieb

Recently, Grandmother came to Toronto and gave a talk on "Sacred Altars of the Earth," at the Omega Center. This talk I understood from the heart since I experienced a sacred altar during the trip to the Azores Islands.

One of the islands there was a volcano which Grandmother told us was a living altar that had birthed itself for our generation. It was so sacred and new and breathing, and it was observing us! Two eagles were dancing the volcano, welcoming us, when we arrived. We all found our way down the steep descent to the bottom of the volcano. My first reaction as I came closer to this beautiful altar was to kneel down; my body suddenly had a will of its own, and I lay on the ground. Face down, I wept, feeling the presence of something so sacred that I had to avert my eyes. I just gasped at the sheer beauty and intensity of what I was feeling. I was transcended beyond my five senses, feeling ecstatic and trembling.

During her talk at the Omega Center, Grandmother explained an altar as a vortex where time and space folds into itself. Altars are serene majestic places on earth where man has found God; every single altar is a heart medicine. When you go to a sacred altar, your five senses get stretched, time stops, and you are touched and changed. As Grandmother said, you experience at least seven dimensions all at once. Being in the presence of an altar reconstructs your chakras, and effects a mind-set change. You forget all the petty stuff in the face of this powerful heart medicine. There are no words left to say when you come to a sacred altar.
