Rolling Thunder

ROLLING THUNDER'S PASSAGE
January 23, 1997

Today an Elder of great wisdom has dropped his overcoat and begins his voyage to the Lodge of the North.

Rolling Thunder was born Cherokee, he lived and worked as a free man. He taught many of us healing ways of our ancestors.

His laughter and sense of humor was always what stood out to me. Under almost any circumstance he could find something to joke about and have a good laugh.

Since a young woman I have been very fortunate to have him as an Elder and guide. He was a wealth of wisdom. He and Spotted Fawn his wife (who passed over years back), was what gave me courage to keep open and continue with my teaching.

Our deepest regards go out to his children and his latest wife Carmen. Our prayers are with you all.

"Our old ones said to us, in your time there will be legends in the Sunset as a great warrior leaves the Earth. On January 23, the dawning of a new age came in, a time all Buffalo Hearts must be standing and counted and it was as prophesied, all were present for this day. An old warrior's eyes saw the world he had helped cultivated and he saw his seed in all of us he spent and gave his time to, he found peace.

He heard the call of the Wisdom Keepers calling him in.
His suffering was past, he moved as the Eagle to the Sun.
Keep the Elder Fires above burning Grandfather Rolling Thunder, so we may all be clear and know the way home.
His ashes were placed in the Mountains of Nevada. A Keeper of the Wisdom has passed to the Sun and lives."
